tru Zagreb FAQ
Find out more about #tru format
What is the recruitment unconference?
An opposite to a regular conference! There are no speakers, no presentations, no podiums, no name badges and no being stuck in your seat, bored by something not relevant to you. Instead, we have Track Leaders, recruiting and HR experts, who will start a conversation around topics that they feel passionately about with people who share that passion.
What are Tracks? What is Show & Tell?
“Tracks” are topics, themes, navigated by a Track Leader, who sets a direction for the discussion.
Track Leaders lead a 40 min “Track” on a chosen topic, with participants sitting around in a circle. The Track Leader opens the discussion with a 3–5 min intro or background on chosen topic. For the rest of the time anyone can contribute, offer an opinion, ask questions, tell a story or even direct the conversation into a new topic! The Track Leader is not in charge, they moderate, facilitate the discussion and keep it alive with ideas and questions.
"Show & Tell" is a 10 minute session featuring a recruitment or HR technology product followed by 5 min Q&A. There will be no sales pitches!
How does it all work on the day?
There are typically 2 or 3 Tracks running at the same time, so you get to choose which one interests you most.
You can contribute as much as you want or merely sit back and take it all in. At any point, you can move on, simply get up and join another Track or have a chat with someone one-on-one. Coffee breaks and lunch are covered by our sponsors.
Tru participants regularly end up creating their own mini tracks all day long without even knowing it!
Will there be opportunities to network?
Absolutely yes! The entire day is about connecting with Track Leaders and other participants, having opportunities for meaningful conversations. There were even businesses started and Rec Tech products developed from tru events!
What can I expect to learn?
If you’re working on finding more qualified candidates and selecting the best, attracting or developing talent, building a better careers site, future-proofing your business, building your recruiter profile, applying best recruitment practices, making sense of social recruiting, learning what other companies are doing well or just figuring out issues other recruiters are also struggling with, then this is an event for you. You will get more than from any training you will ever pay for, and you will earn the time invested back tenfold.
How and where did it all start and who is involved?
#tru is a global series of not-for-profit recruitment events. Founded in London, by one and only Bill Boorman, back in 2009, #tru has since ran in hundreds of cities around the world.
#tru is an event for everyone involved in recruitment, wanting to learn and share ideas on the cutting edge, practical ideas, ideas on solving problems and ideas on how to recruit better.
It is an opportunity to meet other professionals from HR, recruiting, talent acquisition, job boards, developers, hiring managers, recruitment thought leaders and anyone involved in our industry.
Everyone is very welcome!
The Recruitment Unconference community is part of #truMunity.
